Sorry, Not Sorry, no Soft Talk Here

Sorry, Not Sorry, no Soft Talk Here

So, let’s start this off right! I will not lie to you, I am not the sweet, compassionate, gentle, soft voiced therapist most will picture, if that is the style of therapy you desire I will not be a good fit for you. You MUST want to and be willing to do your own work.  I believe in mental wellness, care, and maintenance and my major therapy style is a rugged form of MH Bootcamp. I will roll up my sleeves to work side-by-side with my client(s), digging in deep to find who they hunger to be. We will slog through the crap that bogs us down and keeps us in pain. If I think you are not being real with me and thereby deceiving yourself, I will call “Bullsh*t” and that is when the real work will begin. We will dig in deep to find what your truth is. Does that sound harsh? Sorry, Not Sorry!

I hear my clients ask for help in understanding their personal “why" about those tough life lessons that helped make them or tried to break them. Some clients seem to be seeking a guide who is authentic and realistic. At the base of it all it feels like these clients want to find a balance between societal norms and being real - who they feel they are at their CORE.

As a team we will discover those aspects of "self" that make us all so amazing. We will walk together sharing your life story. When we get to those dark, painful and often scary places we will slow down and work through these. I call these Heart and Soul wounds, clients often believe these wounds are what define them. I believe the strength that got them through the darkness defines them, but fear keeps them holding the pain and staying put.

I love working with adults as they explore the intricacies of their lives and relationships. I am especially interested in working with those who are in alternative life-styles, or those who are transitioning from one way of life to another, trying on different hats to see what fits. I absolutely adore the challenge of working with people who are ready to truly dig deep and embrace who they have desired to be, and are willing to sit in the discomfort of change.

I strive to be authentic, genuine, and as open as is needed with my clients. By doing so, I hope to provide a safe place to celebrate being perfectly imperfect beings. Humans do not always function quite so perfect; our ways can be chaotic and messy. Life is a series of speed bumps, if we learn to have self-compassion, develop the courage to be vulnerable, and take a chance on being imperfectly real, we might just find ourselves engaged in some incredible relationships with ourselves, friends, lovers, and the rest of the world. The journey is a life-long one and filled with baby-steps, but we do not have to trudge through it alone, that too is a CHOICE.
